Job Description We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support a busy corporate accounting environment in Santa Barbara, California. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys working across a broad range of financial activities, from transaction processing to record accuracy and reporting support. The person in this role will partner closely with the accounting team to help maintain organized financial operations and contribute to timely, accurate results.

Responsibilities:• Provide day-to-day administrative and accounting support to help keep financial operations running smoothly. • Update, review, and reconcile financial information across multiple recordkeeping systems and databases. • Perform frequent reconciliations for numerous bank accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy.• Support quarterly and annual close activities by preparing documentation and assisting with required financial reporting. • Process semi-monthly payroll for multiple entities through a payroll platform, confirm report accuracy, and maintain complete payroll records. • Prepare workers’ compensation documentation and review policy details to verify correct reporting and coverage information.• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including transaction tracking and follow-up as needed. • Contribute to additional accounting assignments and special projects based on team priorities.• Hands-on experience with full-cycle bookkeeping or general accounting processes.• Prior payroll processing experience is required, including maintaining accurate supporting records. • Working knowledge of established accounting practices and financial controls. • Proficiency with Excel for organizing data, performing analysis, and supporting reporting tasks. • Experience using accounting and ERP-related systems; familiarity with tools such as ADP, CaseWare, or Concur is helpful.• Strong data entry and keyboarding skills with consistent attention to accuracy. • Ability to think critically, interpret procedures, and apply policies effectively in different situations. • Highly organized and detail-oriented approach to managing multiple responsibilities.
