Jenike&Johanson is seeking a Laboratory Hardware Developer with 0-5 years of experience, onsite in our San Luis Obispo office. This position will be responsible for developing new lab equipment, and redesigning existing, custom laboratory equipment principally intended for our in-house use, globally. Responsibilities:Design/build new hardware and retrofits for existing equipment to meet testing requirements Lead equipment projects from initial design, through production and lab qualification Provides complete and accurate documentation; schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, manuals Ensures equipment meets safety standards, is ergonomic, and provides an intuitive operator interfaceSupports all seven of our global offices with timely technical support to all laboratory technicians for hardware troubleshooting, repair, return to service Work with software development team to build equipment with seamless user experience Occasional travel Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering0-5 years of experience with laboratory testing equipment design, fabrication and deployment Strong mechanical and electrical design skills with the ability to hit cost targets Experience in:

AutoCAD, preferred or Solid Works Producing high quality 2D mechanical and electrical drawings Design low voltage 3 phase-powered equipment Instrumentation calibration methods and best practices

Ability to design for real-world use with a focus on equipment diagnostics and repairability

troubleshoot equipment in a methodical manger

design for "rugged" (dusty, hot, humid) environments and frequent equipment transport at times Willingness to:

design for ad-hoc cases while maintaining a high standard and to review ad-hoc designs for general purpose use adopt existing equipment designs, with an eye to future revision work as part of a team and accept

engineering/software

inputs to drive hardware development

Must have valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain one by employment Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000 annually
