Interim Accounting Manager (Consultant)
About the Role
An emerging, high-growth company is seeking an Interim Accounting Manager (Consultant) to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support the development of scalable financial processes during a period of rapid growth.
This individual will oversee a team of four accountants, with responsibility for month-end close, financial reporting, and technical accounting under US GAAP.
This is a highly hands-on leadership role that combines team development with cross-functional partnership across Finance, People, Legal, Data, Product, and Engineering to drive accurate and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop a team of four accountants, including setting priorities, reviewing deliverables, and providing ongoing coaching related to technical accounting and process improvements
Support the automation of accounting workflows using AI and LLM-enabled tools (e.g., journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and audit support), while promoting thoughtful and responsible adoption across the team
Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and account analyses are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule
Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analyses prepared by the team
Lead technical accounting research and documentation under US GAAP, including drafting memos and formalizing accounting positions for complex transactions
Support the annual audit process, including coordination of PBC requests and responses in partnership with the Assistant Controller, who serves as the primary liaison to external auditors
Partner with the People team on payroll accounting and with cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, Data, Engineering, Product) to scale accounting operations
Identify and drive process improvements and automation initiatives leveraging systems such as NetSuite, Workday, and Ramp to enhance efficiency and controls
Lead or contribute to strategic accounting initiatives, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and delivering measurable outcomes
Qualifications
7+ years of accounting and/or audit experience, including at least 2 years of team leadership experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and experience managing or supporting close processes in a high-growth environment
Background in public accounting (Big 4 or large firm) and/or industry experience within a high-growth or pre-IPO company
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop accounting professionals
Hands-on experience with NetSuite (experience with Numeric and Ramp is a plus), with a demonstrated ability to leverage technology to scale accounting operations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence stakeholders
Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
