Position Highlights
JOB SUMMARY
Cleans hospital patient rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, halls, clinic, and other areas by performing the duties listed below. Supports the hospital's goal of excellence in patient care by facilitating positive employee relations and supporting department goals. Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies' standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with data related to patients, physicians, co-workers and any other hospital information. Washes beds and mattresses, and remakes beds after dismissal of patients. Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition. Distributes laundered articles and linens. Replaces soiled drapes and cubicle curtains. Disinfects and sterilizes equipment and supplies insuring proper procedures are followed according to approved policies. Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor. Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies. Dusts furniture and equipment. Polishes metalwork. Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, and sills. Empties wastebaskets. Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
Able to effectively mix chemical agents to achieve proper concentration for disinfection. Demonstrate ability to properly clean and disinfect a blood/body fluid spill. Demonstrate ability to communicate with patients, families and co-workers. Able to complete work as assigned. Have the ability, initiative and willingness to assist in other areas as assigned/requested. Performs well in an emergency situation, to include, but not limited to; disasters, drills and end of day rushes. Ability to dispose of hazardous materials properly. Basic understanding of the operation of cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaners, buffers, carpet extractors/spotters. Performs well in an emergency situation, to include, but not limited to; disasters, drills, and end of day rushes. Ability to dilute chemicals properly, reading and following instructions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A high school education or GED are desirable; or one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
