Our client is a leading Tier 1 defense supply chain partner, specializing in the precision machining of airframe structures and complex assemblies for rotorcraft and guided missile systems. Operating out of their 45,000 square foot AS9100 and ISO 9001 certified facility in Hauppauge, NY, they have a CNC machining center and advanced NC technologies to produce flight-critical components from aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
Position Summary:
They are seeking a highly skilled CATIA Programmer / Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering and manufacturing team. This role is critical in translating complex aerospace designs into precise manufacturing programs, ensuring the production of high-quality, flight-critical components. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with CATIA V5/V6, NC programming, and a solid understanding of mechanical design and CNC machining processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize CNC programs using CATIA V5/V6 for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis high-speed machining centers.
Design and model complex aerospace components, assemblies, and tooling fixtures in CATIA.
Interpret customer CAD data and technical drawings to create accurate manufacturing plans.
Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability, quality, and efficiency.
Assist in process development for machining aluminum, titanium, and other aerospace alloys.
Conduct first article inspections and support AS9102 documentation processes.
Provide technical support on NC program troubleshooting and process improvement.
Maintain compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001 standards in all engineering documentation.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in CATIA programming for aerospace applications.
Proficiency in CATIA V5 (V6 a plus) and experience with NC Manufacturing Workbenches.
Strong understanding of multi-axis CNC machining, GD&T, and aerospace materials.
Experience with high-speed machining of aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
Familiarity with CAM post-processors and simulation tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with simulation software.
Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing documentation.
Hands-on shop floor support or CNC machining experience.
