Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist Job Description This role is a hands-on CNC Lathe Machinist position in a job shop environment that produces precision parts for the aerospace industry. You will set up and operate CNC lathe machines, verify part quality, and ensure all components meet strict specifications and tolerances.Responsibilities Participate in daily team meetings to review production schedules and priorities. Set up and operate assigned CNC lathe cells, typically running 1-2 machines depending on part cycle times. Collaborate with the quality team to prove out parts and obtain approval before proceeding with full production runs.Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to verify that parts meet specification. Maintain tight tolerances and consistently hold +/- 0.001 inch on critical dimensions. Operate CNC lathes including HAAS, Doosan, or Mazak machines in a job shop environment. Work with G and M code via Mazatrol programming to run parts and make necessary program edits.Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to ensure parts are produced to specification. Adjust feeds and speeds as needed to optimize machining performance and part quality. Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality procedures.Essential Skills

At least 5 years of CNC lathe machining experience. Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC lathes in a production or job shop environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and work instructions. Ability to utilize G and M code to make program edits on CNC lathes. Experience using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools for in-process inspection.Ability to consistently hold tolerances of +/- 0.001 inch. Experience operating CNC lathe equipment such as HAAS, Doosan, or Mazak machines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Capability to work collaboratively with quality personnel and production team members.Additional Skills&Qualifications

Previous experience machining parts for aerospace or medical industries. Experience setting up CNC lathe machines independently from start to finish. Familiarity with Mazatrol programming environments. Ownership of personal quality tools such as micrometers and calipers.

The facility emphasizes precision, quality, and collaboration, with regular interaction between machinists and quality personnel. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, with leadership visible and active on the shop floor. Standard industrial shop attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safety and professionalism.Job Type&Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
