Lead Electrical Controls Engineer

Our team supports projects from concept through commissioning, including electrical design, instrumentation, panel design/build, programming, and startup.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Lead Controls Engineer with experience in process control systems, PLC/HMI programming, and system integration. This role involves full project lifecycle responsibility, working both in the office and in the field. Travel is required, including occasional international assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and modify PLC programs based on control strategies and specifications
• Design and implement HMI/SCADA systems
• Design control panels and create electrical drawing packages
• Develop system specifications, sequences of operation, and control narratives
• Create cause & effect diagrams and testing plans
• Specify and configure instrumentation
• Lead system commissioning, startup, and field troubleshooting
• Provide ongoing technical support and client interaction
• Support procurement of hardware, software, and related systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Strong controls or automation engineering experience; ideally with a systems integration firm
• Strong understanding of industrial networking and system configuration
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools

Preferred Technical Experience

• Rockwell (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk)
• Siemens (TIA Portal)
• Wonderware (System Platform, InTouch)
• Industrial networking

Work Environment

• Combination of office and field-based work
