CHS Assistant Volleyball Coach

Reports to: Principal / Athletic Director Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Must pass fingerprinting/background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School District standards Must hold a current and valid First Aid and CPR card, OR be able to obtain them prior to working with athletesMust be at least 19 years of age for Assistant Coaching Positions and at least 21 years of age for Head Coaching Positions pursuant to WIAA regulations Must complete WIAA required training Must complete onboarding paperwork and SafeSchools training prior to working with athletes Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 p.m. daily during their coaching season, with availability on weekends as requiredPrior coaching experience preferred General Functions: Supports CHS in all of its athletic programs and demonstrates a commitment to strengthening relations within the educational system, as well as the coaching profession Demonstrates loyalty and supports the head coach in conducting the athletic program of that particular sportKnowledgeable and aware of rules and regulations concerning his/her sport Assumes any duties assigned to him/her by the head coach pertaining to the overall athletic program of that particular sport and assumes the responsibilities of the head coach in the absence of the head coach Assists and is accountable to the head coach, athletic director and principalAccompanies and directs the assigned team to all games and practices Holds a current first aid and CPR card Keeps current on all clock hours depending on coaching level Exemplifies good sportsmanship and is held to the same sportsmanship expectations as the head coach Essential Functions: Supervises and instructs students in the fundamentals of the sport he/she is coachingMaintains facilities and equipment Supervises team players at practice, games, in the locker room, and during travel Promotes sportsmanship and fair play among all teams and players by always setting a good example for participants and fans to follow, instructs participants in proper sportsmanship responsibilities, makes sportsmanship a high priority, respects the judgment of contest officials, and abides by the rules of the eventNon-Discrimination Statement The Clarkston School District will provide equal educational opportunity and treatment for all students in all aspects of the academic and activities program without discrimination based on race, religion, creed, color, national origin, age, honorably-discharged veteran or military status, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, marital status, the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability.
