Description
The Positive Regard Network invites applicants for the position of Special Education Teacher, as well as general education teachers: - Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree is strongly preferred. MA DESE Special Education licensure required – Moderate or Severe Disabilities and experience working with children with special needs is strongly preferred. For general education positions, DESE licensure in that particular area (or license eligible) required and experience working with children with special needs is strongly preferred. Teacher Job Description: Provide and instruct age/grade appropriate lesson plans. Maintain evaluation records on all assigned students. Maintain appropriate lesson plans and materials required for lessons in case of absence. Provide appropriate homework for each student. Assign and correct student work. Communicate with other organizations regarding youth progress, as requested. Obtain and/or develop appropriate curricular materials in all subjects. Complete student evaluation reporting forms as needed. Complete daily paperwork. Arrange for all testing needs of students as prescribed by IEP and advocate for any other testing or service needs. Administer standardized and informal tests appropriate to credentials. Provide input for IEP development, case managementand treatment planning. Provide a rough draft IEP for Team meetings ahead of time and seek appropriate service providers for input in the development of the document. Attend IEP, review and emergency meetings as requested and needed. Remain current with DESE regulations applicable to special education, i.e. MCAS. Attend all scheduled teacher meetings, IEP meetings, staff meetings, and staff trainings. Participate in supervision. Assist in interventions as needed. Maintain the safety of the building; i.e. work on line in emergencies. Positions are located primarily at our location in Chicopee,MA and are full time, 52 weeks per year.
