This role offers an opportunity to lead and support safety operations within a busy healthcare environment.
As a Senior Patrol Officer (Corporal), you will oversee routine surveillance of facilities and grounds while acting as a first-line supervisor within the department.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage schedules for the Public Safety Department.
Lead and mentor subordinate officers, providing training aligned with established policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate records of daily activities, rounds, and incidents in compliance with departmental standards.
Serve as an instructor and trainer to ensure the safety and protection of all visitors and staff.
Provide supervision and guidance to Public Safety Officers.
Assist leadership during crisis or emergency situations with professionalism and efficiency.
Support administrative tasks such as maintaining call statistics and minor office duties.
Education
Completion of an accredited law enforcement academy is required.
Experience
Minimum of one year of patrol officer experience or four years of active law enforcement detention experience.
Certifications and Licenses
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
Must be a commissioned law enforcement officer in good standing with the state POST Commission or have held a valid commission within the past three years.
Mental and Physical Requirements
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, perform necessary calculations, and interpret safety policies and procedures.
The role requires standing, walking, sitting, and lifting.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
Candidates must be able to manage multiple crisis situations effectively and professionally under stress.
Knowledge of hospital codes and emergency procedures is necessary.
Working Conditions
This position involves exposure to various environmental conditions including heat, cold, noise, chemicals, infectious diseases, and potentially aggressive individuals.
