Position Title - Clinical Instructor (School of Teaching, Learning&Developmental Science)-9 month appt Work Location - Springfield Campus Department - School of Teaching, Learning&Developmental Sciences HR Home Department - 020411 SCHOOL OF TEACHING, LEARNING&DEVELOPMENTAL SCIENCE Pay Grade - Unclassified Sponsorship Information - Applicants must be currently authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States on a full-time basis. This position may not be eligible for work visa sponsorship. Position only available to current, regular, full-time Missouri State University employees? - No, Position is available to all applicants.Faculty Appointment Type - Non-Tenure Track Term (if applicable) - 9 month Begin Date of Appointment - 08/10/2026 Exempt/Non-Exempt - Exempt General Function - The Clinical Instructor is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities for clinical education and service. Clinical faculty may participate in research or other scholarly or creative activities.Description of Primary Duties - The essential duties and responsibilities of the Clinical Instructor are assigned by the School Director. The Clinical Instructor will teach full time at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise practicum students and may supervise student teachers. The Clinical Instructor will have opportunities to engage in service to the program, school, college, and/or University. Coursework content is related to emergent literacy, early literacy, literacy assessment, foundations of literacy instruction, content area literacy, and other aspects of literacy. Candidate may supervise students in local field experiences. Candidate may teach online using the University LMS. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching, and/or service.Minimum Acceptable Qualifications - The minimum acceptable qualifications for the Clinical Instructor rank are determined by the department and approved by the Dean and the Provost. Clinical Faculty must be qualified as defined by professional/discipline standards, have practical experience appropriate for the responsibilities assigned, and must maintain appropriate professional credentials.Additional Qualifications - A minimum of a master's degree in literacy or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher learning is required. A minimum of three years of teaching experience in public schools in grades pre K-8 is required. Candidate must hold certification in Elementary, Early Childhood, Middle School Education. Must have knowledge and understanding of multiple approaches to literacy instruction. Ability to establish contacts with local public schools that provide practica/student teaching experiences is required.Equal Opportunity Statement
