Job Purpose:
A System Protection Group (SPG) Engineer I will be trained to create successful models in various software programs, studies, and reports for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including transmission & distribution, generation, institutional, commercial & industrial, and manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities:
System studies – Short Circuit, Protective settings, Coordination, Harmonics, Motor Starting, Arc Flash
Relay programming – SEL, GE, ABB, Basler, Siemens, SquareD, Beckwith
Power Quality Studies – From load studies to forensic analysis
Performing Failure Analysis and Trouble Shooting
Provide technical support to testing teams, including such items as: analyzing power quality tests, relay test results and relay event reports
Knowledge of these programs: SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, PSSE, PSLF, ASPEN
Familiar with NFPA and IEEE standards
Experience gathering electrical equipment data
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must have a BSEE from an ABET accredited school
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred (Must complete within two years of employment)
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must pass a drug and alcohol screening
Up to 15% - 20% travel required
