Quality Control Inspector
WHARTON, TX 77488 Overview
Salary Range $22.00 - $28.00 Hourly Description
POSITION OBJECTIVE: - Brief statement of why position exists. Has overall knowledge of all PVC pipe products and accessories concerning specifications and methods of inspection. Inspects plastic pipe and fittings while in process and finished stages. Makes routing decisions on acceptance of these products using standard procedures and instruments.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Refer to 5 forms for complete descriptions of duties, physical and visual requirements. Tasks and Duties Do line audits. Do 24 hour drop area inspections, also including hydrotester drop area. Performs the following physical test: a. Rubber ring tests b. Acetone Test c. Vice Test d. Impact Tests e. Quick Burst Tests f. Long-Term TestsCheck Pipe truck loading File new specs and revisions in active books and canceled specs into canceled files. Take care of record keeping filing, i.e. inspection results, test data, daily file of "lot" data by extruder and product etc. Lot sample and inspect rubber rings and other raw materials.Collect hydrotester charts and records. Make daily Q.C. inspection report. Make monthly Q.C. inspection report. Mix glue. Take care of printers. Packages or boxes test samples for mailing. Uses calipers, dial gauges, OK tape, plug gauges and other hand measurement tools as required. Prepares written reports when necessary or as directed. Checks special orders and reads blue prints to determine if specifications have been complied with.Maintains special test records, completes special tests or projects as assigned. Checks the quality of finished goods for shipment and returned goods for acceptance to stock. Checks pipe inventory periodically and red circles damaged pipe to be removed from shipping stock. Maintains good housekeeping at all times.Performs other miscellaneous jobs as directed. The above prescribed duties are set forth as "bench marks" for evaluation of this job. They are representative of the normal work performed and do not constitute the complete requirements of the job Physical/Visual Activities Required/Work Environmental Conditions:Have adequate sight, hearing and use of limbs to safely operate all powered vehicles. I.E. Forklifts, sweepers, cars and pickups. Sight capabilities to distinguish proper products identification as well as warning indicators. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.Sight capabilities to use tools required for quality control verification. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements for inspecting pipe. Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching in all areas to inspect products and raw materials.Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements. Hear and understand all verbal communication whether it be face to face or via telephone. See and understand all written communication. Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials and products produced to determine acceptance and or denial of each.Climb and descend all ladders or steps whether fixed or portable on company facilities in order to inspect pipe and raw materials. Lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 30 feet. Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30". Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure yourself or fellow employees. I.E. power saws, drills, hammers, presses, latches etc.Sight capability to safely operate at arms length machinery and power and hand tools needed to accomplish the requirements of the job assignments for this position. QUALIFICATIONS: -, describe education and experience needed to perform the above. Personnel will confirm. Minimum High School or equivalent. Additional training/education in Production and quality control. 5+ years experience in Production of product, experience working with Q.C. function.
