/ppA Lab Assistant II Phlebotomist performs adult and pediatric Phlebotomy, in addition to daily tasks including, centrifuging, aliquoting and stabilizing patient specimens for transport via courier to the main campus lab or via the pneumatic tube system.
Accurately register patients, insurance verification and verifying all patient demographics.
/ppstrongRoles and Responsibilities:/strong/pulliPerforms pre-analytical specimen receipt, processing, identification verification and specimen storage.
/liliOperates centrifuge and pneumatic tube systems, office equipment, enters information and tests orders into the laboratory computer system Helps minimize butterfly usage throughout the PSCs, maintains professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
/liliProvides training to others/liliPerforms phlebotomy on inpatient floors and supports the ED phlebotomy staff and may be required to draw outpatients on off-hours.
/liliManages work unit supply ordering and inventory.
/li/ulpstrongRequired Skills and Experience:/strong/pulliRequired: High school diploma or equivalent/liliVocational phlebotomy (or related) course/program, or 1 year working phlebotomy experience.
/li/ulp/ppPreferred Skills and Experience:/pulliProblem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred/liliGood written and oral communication skills preferred.
/liliRequires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.
/li/ulpstrongPhysical Requirements:/strong/pulliMay require light lifting (up to 10 Lbs.) and carrying supplies.
/liliRepetitive use of hands (e.g. computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time is often necessary.
