Job Title: Concrete Carpenter

Job Description:

Seeking experienced concrete carpenters for commercial and industrial projects. This role involves forming, pouring, and finishing concrete while maintaining a safe and organized job site .

Responsibilities:

• Perform concrete work including slabs, walls, and structural elements
• Set, install, and remove formwork (MEVA/gang forms preferred)
• Finish concrete surfaces, including architectural concrete
• Assist with material handling and site cleanup
• Follow all safety procedures

Requirements:

• 6+ years of concrete carpentry experience
• Strong formwork and finishing skills
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical work
• Reliable and able to work on active job sites
• Previous experience working with concrete on commercial or industrial projects (preferred).
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with commercial and industrial construction environments, such as battery storage facilities, advanced manufacturing plants, and high-rise buildings.
• Ability to read and follow basic construction plans and instructions.
• Willingness to participate in an internal apprenticeship and skills development program.
• Flexibility to travel to various job sites throughout the valley as new projects begin.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, accurate, and durable concrete work.
• Reliable transportation to reach different project locations and early morning start times.

Work Environment

You will work on active construction sites in the North Phoenix area and across the valley, including a major project near 7th Street and Happy Valley Road. Typical start times range between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., with standard 8-hour workdays and approximately 10% overtime, depending on project needs. The environment is primarily outdoor and field-based, involving exposure to varying weather conditions, construction equipment, and ongoing site activity. You will use standard concrete tools and equipment, including formwork systems, scaffolding, wheelbarrows, shovels, and finishing tools. The role requires consistent adherence to safety practices and appropriate construction attire suitable for a busy job site.

This is a Permanent position based out of Tempe, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $63440.00 - $71760.00/yr.

Mortenson is a large General Contractor. These openings are to support their self-perform concrete team. They primarily focus on Commercial and Industrial projects including battery storage facilities, advanced manufacturing, high rise buildings, etc. They have an internal apprenticeship program and want to train/build their internal team. They have 4 levels for each trade and each one comes with pay increases. These positions are Level II and as they progress will be able to get up to Level IV. Laborers can move up to Carpenter level and pay ranges from $30-35/hour.

This is a fully onsite position in Tempe,AZ.

This position is anticipated to close on Jun 5, 2026.
