Description
Title: Enterprise Architect
Location: Temple, TX (3 days per week on-site) – Relocation is fine, they can allow up to 1 month for candidates to relocate if they are not already in the Temple, TX area
I believe the best way to close this requirement is to find candidates that fit the technical requirements, are looking for an H1b transfer/full time, direct hire role and can relocate to Temple, TX (about an hour drive north of Austin, TX/2.5 hour drive south of Dallas).
Client Note -
Candidates must also have some experience in AI (details listed below).
Requirements for Enterprise Architect role:
Application Rationalization and Business Architecture
Goal is reducing ~600 applications by 5-10%. A recent hire is owning this space, so this isn't a primary component but resource should have knowledge and some experience.
Strategy and Road Mapping – THIS IS KEY
Most important piece for this new hire
Good generalist who can engage/assist and accelerate on a variety of topics – Cloud, Security, etc… needs to be able to define user needs and create application flow diagrams!
Experience building out Reference Architecture, which is a component road mapping.
Terminology: Business Capability Modeling, Reference Architecture, Road Mapping, Business Outcome Strategy
Strong experience with diagram presentation and training
Managing business capabilities and maps
Ideally have a TOGAF certification since that's what they follow
Interpersonal and great soft skills
Expect this candidate will have a good depth of technical acumen – example: Cloud is not the focus, more on aligning what the business wants to implement/business goals with the solutions they can implement, so experience in Azure is great but not primary focus.
AI is an area that has been a differentiator but is really becoming less of a wish list and more of a requirement.
There are many ways of applying AI, and experience with more is better… EA Team needs to be able to go to the business and not only have a path forward, but an accelerated path forward showing how AI can help with that acceleration.
Ideal candidate needs to know how to execute on AI solutions… assist with AI enablement in the business. This could come from various areas - they may not know what they need until they hear it.
AI Analytics and Machine Learning with data
Automation and Agentic AI to help accelerate processes
Knowledge Base 'Assistive AI'
Need to be able to articulate HOW they can leverage AI; should have some prior/proven experience
One more Jerome reached out about after our call… he would be prefer next EA candidate have expertise in the finance domain… working with financial applications and working with financial teams at the company they were/are with.
Typical Day to day:
There will be business meetings – expected to meet with key stakeholders, business, IT, and external customers – all different levels, VP's to different levels of the organization
Being able to create diagrams and visuals
Mainly going to be working with Jerome and the team (Harold, Jessica, Bill) – in the end the primary function is to take vision of the business and capture in diagrams/architect where the solution can translate it into something that can be done
What do you foresee the challenges being for someone in the role?
Initial expectations – making diagrams – making headway with workshops – initial thing is learning the business
Need Write up on following with submission:
What is the role and function of Enterprise Architecture in an organization?
Ask about Cloud First Architecture
Ask about Redhat OpenShift
What have been the major blockers in establishing a working Enterprise Architecture Organization?
Ask about Application Rationalization
Do you have any Enterprise Architecture Certification training or experience? Any other certifications that you would want to highlight?
