Mechanical Integrity Engineer - Geismar- Equipment/Systems

Our client, a global leader and manufacturer of industrial atmospheric gases and related technology is searching for a Mechanical Integrity Engineer based out of their plant in Geismar, LA. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of mechanical systems and equipment within the Southeast Louisiana Region.

He/She is responsible for developing and managing comprehensive mechanical integrity programs, overseeing inspections and maintenance of critical assets such as pressure vessels, pipelines, and storage tanks, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and company procedures. The ideal candidate will leverage deep technical expertise and strong project management skills to drive continuous improvement in asset performance, support incident investigations, and foster a culture of safety and operational excellence across the organization. At least one API certification is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the mechanical integrity program to ensure the safety and reliability of equipment such as pressure vessels, pipelines, storage tanks, and heat exchangers.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee inspections of critical equipment, including non-destructive testing (NDT), visual inspections, pressure tests, and thickness gauging.
  • Ensure compliance with inspection schedules and regulatory requirements in alignment with industry codes (e.g., API, ASME, OSHA) and procedures.
  • Review and analyze inspection data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of concern.
  • Evaluate and manage corrosion rates, wear, material degradation, and life expectancy of equipment.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation on mechanical integrity programs, inspection records, repairs, and certifications for audits and legal compliance.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to plan and execute repairs, modifications, or upgrades for mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Make recommendations on appropriate materials, repairs, or replacements to improve safety and longevity.
  • Monitor repair quality and verify compliance with engineering specifications and standards.
  • Maintain updated records of inspections, repairs, and asset integrity assessments in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Work closely with engineers, maintenance and operations teams, reliability experts, and management to ensure proper integration of mechanical integrity efforts within overall operations.
  • Actively participate in incident investigations related to mechanical equipment and provide engineering input to improve safety systems.
  • Facilitate failure analysis investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
  • Track advancements in mechanical integrity practices, standards, and technologies, and recommend updates to programs and methods accordingly.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process optimization without compromising safety or compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree required with 10 years' experience in mechanical integrity, mechanical, or chemical.
  • At least one API Certification (510, 570, 653)
  • Proficiency with ASME, ANSI, and OSHA standards.
  • Project Management PMP or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with NDE methods and techniques used to support mechanical integrity programs.
