Assembly Mechanic
Pay: $22–$28/hour
Location: Wilsonville, OR
Job Overview
We are hiring an Assembly Mechanic to build and service large industrial shredders and related equipment. This role involves assembling and disassembling mechanical systems using detailed drawings, schematics, and written procedures. You’ll work with hydraulic and electrical systems, perform inspections, support testing, and prepare equipment for paint and shipment. This is a hands-on position suited for someone with strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with heavy industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities
• Assemble and disassemble industrial shredders and sub-assemblies following blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
• Work with hydraulic and electrical systems, ensuring proper routing, connections, and functionality
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams
• Inspect components and assemblies to identify defects and ensure quality standards are met
• Set up systems for testing, operate equipment during testing procedures, and make necessary adjustments
• Tear down completed equipment and prepare for paint, finishing, and shipment
• Rebuild and repair systems as needed to ensure safe, reliable operation
• Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment including torches, grinders, hydraulic jacks, and pipe fitting tools
• Operate material handling equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, manlifts, and scissor lifts
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures
• Plan ahead for materials, tools, and workflow needs when applicable
Qualifications
• Experience assembling and disassembling mechanical equipment or large industrial machinery
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex issues
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Experience working with hydraulic systems, motors, bearings, seals, and power transmission components
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment
• Experience operating cranes, forklifts, or other lifting equipment is preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work in an industrial environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Work Environment & Schedule
• Industrial manufacturing environment with hands-on mechanical work
• Regular use of tools, heavy equipment, and material handling systems
• Day shift: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:45 PM
• Swing shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM (shift differential offered)
• Fast-paced setting requiring safety awareness, teamwork, and attention to detail
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
