Second Ops Technician

The Second Ops Technician performs tooling and equipment setups to support secondary operations, including installing injection molds, preparing machines, and ensuring equipment consistently produces quality parts. This role troubleshoots and repairs equipment, supports automation, and collaborates closely with maintenance and process engineering to resolve production issues and maintain efficient, safe operations.Responsibilities

Perform tooling and equipment set-ups, including tool installation, machine preparation, and injection mold installation, to support secondary operations and ensure machines are ready for production. Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed, including replacing cutting tools, adjusting machine settings, and supporting automation systems to maintain optimal machine performance and product quality.Monitor product quality and process productivity, identifying issues promptly and taking corrective action to ensure parts meet specifications and production targets. Perform equipment setups as directed, following established procedures and ensuring equipment produces good parts before releasing to production.Support maintenance systems by performing assigned maintenance-related activities and documenting work in accordance with established procedures. Work with maintenance and process engineering teams to troubleshoot and repair system failures, contributing technical insight to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.Collect and enter data as needed to support procedures, process documentation, and engineering tests, ensuring accurate and timely information for analysis and continuous improvement. Interact with employees in a positive and professional manner, fostering effective communication and teamwork on the production floor.Train employees on the safe and proper use of technical equipment such as automation systems, CNC machines, and other production machinery. Follow all safety practices and procedures, maintain awareness of occupational hazards, and promptly report or address any unsafe conditions. Perform other duties as required to support production, maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.Essential Skills

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to work with mechanical systems and components. Experience with hand and power tools, including safe and effective use in a production or mechanical environment. Ability to perform mechanical troubleshooting on production equipment and machinery. Experience with machine setup and operation, including setting up and adjusting machines for production.Basic to moderate computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office and data entry for procedures and tests. Ability to read and understand blueprints or technical documentation related to equipment and processes. Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet production requirements.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as effectively within a team environment. Good communication skills with the ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions, and to follow safety practices and recognize hazards.Ability to work varying work schedules during training as needed. Physical ability to regularly stand, sit, walk, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear, and see while performing job duties, and to frequently stand and walk on the production floor. Additional Skills&Qualifications

Mechanical inclination or background in mechanical work such as automotive mechanics, automotive technology, or similar hands-on technical roles. Experience with machine operation and production environments, including exposure to injection molding or metal molding processes. Familiarity with automation equipment, CNC machines, and other technical production machinery.Experience using wrenches, hand tools, power tools, and maintaining a basic tool box. Exposure to process technician or secondary operations (2nd ops) work in a manufacturing setting. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Ability to perform basic maintenance-related tasks such as oil changes or similar mechanical service work.Comfort working in a structured, safety-focused manufacturing environment with multiple machines and production lines. The role is based in an injection metal molding manufacturing facility where the production floor is filled with molding machines, creating a busy and fairly crowded environment. There is a strong emphasis on safety, with high safety awareness and established safety practices that must be followed at all times. The position offers structured shifts, including a day shift (MondayFriday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm) and a swing shift (MondayFriday, 8:00 pm to 4:30 am), with the expectation that employees may work varying schedules during training. Work is performed on and around production equipment, requiring regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity, as well as the ability to talk, hear, and see clearly in a manufacturing setting. You will use hand and power tools, interact with automation and CNC equipment, and operate or support injection molding and related machinery in a highly organized, safety-focused environment.Job Type&Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.60/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
