Apprentice Plumber

Performs a gradually increasing percentage of journey-level duties while learning the plumbing trade as a regularly indentured apprentice. Apprentices assist in the assembly, installation and repair of pipes and fittings and fixtures of heating, water, drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. Will test pipes and fixtures using water and air to detect and locate leaks. Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required angles using hand power tools. Hang steel supports from ceiling joints to hold pipes in place. Install underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 30 pounds. This position may require working in an outdoor or indoor working environment, working in seasonal heat or cold adverse weather conditions. Exposure to fumes, dust, odors, oil, grease and gases.
