Location and Travel Requirements

Locals accepted at a local rate within a 50-mile travel requirement.

Confirmation required that locals are aware of the lower bill rate.

Licensure and Certifications

California RN Licensure

BLS (Basic Life Support)

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

NIHSS Certification

CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room)

Shift and On-Call Requirements

5 x 8-hour day shifts with start times between 6:45 AM and 8:30 AM.

On-call required for overnights on weekdays, 24 hours on weekends, and holidays.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of experience required.

2 years of recent OR experience in a community hospital or Trauma Level 2 facility.

Experience in the following areas: General Surgery, Orthopedics, Spine, Urology, Robotics, OB/GYN (C-sections), Plastic Surgery, and Robotics.

Special Requirements

The professional will practice under the direct supervision of the surgeon during surgical interventions and must perform only as a first assistant, not concurrently as a scrub nurse. In extreme emergencies, assistance with procedures that present an unusual hazard to life may be expected. Technical functions include:

Providing retraction

Maintaining hemostasis

Performing knot tying

Assisting with surgical cases where the assistant surgeon's role is optional or predictably limited

Unit Information

The role involves providing individualized nursing care based on knowledge of basic competencies in nursing and pharmacology. The nursing process is applied to geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients from admission through discharge. This requires knowledge of standards of care, nursing assessment parameters, and pharmacology, including doses, purpose, interactions, side effects, and reactions to medications.
