Entry Level Shop Technician, Troy, NY

Description:Kinsley Power Systems, a family-owned industry leader in power generation service, sales, and rentals, is seeking a dedicated Shop Technician to join our growing team. With over 60 years of experience, we pride ourselves on providing top-tier service and being a trusted generator distributor.

An ideal candidate will be a recent trade school graduate—preferably with a focus in automotive or diesel technology—who possesses strong mechanical aptitude, takes initiative as a self-starter, and shows a genuine eagerness to learn. This individual should have a desire to grow within the organization, with the long-term goal of transitioning into a field service technician role.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely handle shipping and receiving duties using a powered industrial truck.

Deliver parts to field technicians as needed.

Conduct regular facility audits and ensure a safe, healthy work environment.

Perform engine repairs, electrical diagnostics, and maintenance on in-house units.

Provide internal and external support to Field Service Technicians.

Maintain and upkeep rental equipment.

Assist in emergency response efforts, both within and outside the company's service area.

Cross-train to provide backup support for the Parts Coordinator position as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience:

Ability to achieve OSHA10 or OSHA30 certification.

Valid state driver's license and the ability to meet DOT medical certification criteria.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and environments.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to multi-task effectively in a high-demand environment with a focus on safety.

Basic computer literacy and problem-solving abilities.

Previous engine and electrical experience is a plus.

A team player who balances individual and team responsibilities.
