First review of applications on May 20, 2026 Under direction, supervises, monitors, and coordinates personnel, daily operation and maintenance activities of the Town's Parks&Recreation Department, Lifeguard division. Essential functions include ensuring the health and safety of employees and patrons, performing seasonal maintenance work, maintaining records and reports, performing routine water tests, preparing pool and facility for opening and closing, maintaining cleanliness, supervising day-to-day activities, assisting with ordering chemicals and supplies, assuring chemicals are stored properly, identifying and removing safety hazards, maintaining vigilance awareness training standards, operating and performing preventative maintenance on pool equipment, responding to emergency situations, and assisting with personnel actions.Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include effective communication, establishing and maintaining working relationships, enforcing pool regulations, organizing work, responding to emergency situations, customer service techniques, management and supervision principles, occupational health and safety regulations, pool maintenance and operation techniques, and knowledge of Town and Department policies and procedures.Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, one (1) year experience as a Lifeguard, one (1) year experience in a supervisory capacity, Oxygen Administration certification, Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications, and obtaining associated safety certifications within 90 days of hire. Lifeguarding Instructor or other advanced aquatic certification preferred.Environmental factors and working conditions include occasional exposure to communicable diseases, work in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, frequent exposure to chemical, mechanical, and electrical hazards, exposure to noise and vibration, seasonal exposure to wetness/humidity and extreme temperatures, ability to lift or move over fifty (50) pounds, ability to swim 300 yards, and regular, daily attendance.The Town of Oro Valley is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
