Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Accounting Manager
to oversee the daily financial operations for a long-standing faith-based organization and its associated private academy.
This role is critical as the organization embarks on a large expansion project over the next four years.
You will partner with the Treasurer and leadership to ensure financial sustainability, accurate reporting, and thoughtful cash management.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who enjoys optimizing processes and has a strong grasp of fund accounting within
QuickBooks Online
.
Essential Functions:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Produce monthly financial statements for leadership and the governing council.
Maintain and optimize the
fund accounting structure
, specifically utilizing the "Class" feature in QuickBooks Online for restricted funds.
Manage fixed asset schedules and perform ad hoc financial analysis.
Cash Management & Capital Project Support
Prepare forward-looking cash flow projections and monitor available cash (CDs, loans, etc.).
Track
Capital Campaign
commitments versus actual receipts to ensure fundraising targets are met.
Track all revenues and expenses related to various construction projects, coordinating with the general contractor's finance team.
Accounts Payable, Payroll & Compliance
Manage the full A/P cycle: enter vendor bills with documentation and process payments/reimbursements.
Process bi-weekly payroll via an external service and record entries in QuickBooks.
Ensure tax compliance by preparing annual W2s and ****s and filing quarterly/annual payroll reports.
Stewardship & Budgeting
Enter weekly donations and apply them accurately toward member pledges.
Collaborate with department heads to gather data for the annual budgeting process.
Qualifications
Education:
Basic to intermediate accounting education required.
Software:
Proficiency in
QuickBooks Online
is essential; experience with the "Class" or "Projects" features is highly preferred.
Excel:
Intermediate skills (vlookups, pivot tables) for downloading data and creating reporting packages.
Experience:
Previous experience in
Nonprofit or Fund Accounting
is strongly preferred.
Experience with
Construction or Project Accounting
(e.g., tracking construction-in-progress) is a significant plus.
Soft Skills:
Ability to collaborate with non-financial staff and a willingness to suggest and implement process improvements.
