Tarnished Truth Distilling Company is looking for a passionate Retail Assistant to join our small but mighty team inside the Historic Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach. In this role, you'll lead distillery tours and bourbon tastings, drive retail sales, manage inventory and visual merchandising, and deliver an unforgettable guest experience to visitors from around the world. You'll work closely with management on compliance, merchandising standards, and the day-to-day operations of a growing retail shop

pay starts at $16$18/hour. Overview

Assists with customer service, merchandising, inventory control, and other related activities for Tarnished Truth Distilling Company's small gift shop located within the Historic Cavalier Hotel. This position supports the day-to-day activities, routine stock management, customer service activities and provides input into policies and procedures. Works directly with management to ensure compliance of state and federal laws relating to distilled spirits sales within the gift shop.Responsibilities

Responsibilities of Gold Key|PHR hourly Associates: Leading daily distillery tours&bourbon tastings with enthusiasm and knowledge Operation of a computerized POS system for retail sales, cash-handling, sales reports Performs direct retail sales, hitting monthly sales metrics Work with management to manage inventory, restocking of the retail floor, and maintaining high standards in visual merchandising on the retail floorProvide excellent customer service to guests, project confidence in interacting with guests and VIPs Contribute to a positive working environment, as we are a small team of 3 but work closely with other departments within the distillery, the Hunt Room,&the Cavalier Performs computerized cash register sales transactions and cash management Assists with the development and implementation of policies, and procedures consistent with those of the organization Provides sales coordination and performs direct sales and customer service Monitors sales through the cash register; resolves discrepancies, prepares, reconciles, and records cash receipts for deposit, and prepares sales reportsMonitors and coordinates ordering, receipt, and return of merchandise and/or equipment. Monitors general housekeeping cleanliness within the area; ensures that equipment and facilities remain in good repair, and that employee and customer safety standards are maintained Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedPerforms all state and federal required reports for sales of Distilled spirits within the gift shop Preferred Attributes: Candidate has strong problem solving skills&shows initiative Proficiency in Excel&Word Candidate has interest in being involved with the retail store as it grows/interest in working with management in development&implementation of policies Candidate is "coachable," open to ongoing learning regarding distillery&retail operations Candidate is comfortable and confident in public speaking, brings high energy to guest&associate interactions Qualifications

*Must be at least 21 Years Old* At least 2 years of retail sales experience Must be willing and able to work Tuesday - Sunday Knowledge of mathematics, cash management principles and/or procedures Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures Knowledge of retail stock management and control principles and proceduresKnowledge of retail floor sales techniques, retail advertising, sales promotion and/or visual merchandising techniques Ability to analyze and solve problems, ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures Ability to summarize and reconcile retail sales and operating statistics, and to prepare routine statistical reportsAbility to operate a computerized cash register Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
