We are a growing industrial distribution company seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee and manage all accounting and financial functions of the business. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting operations, producing financial reports, and supporting ownership with financial analysis and operational insight.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a small-business environment where they will wear multiple hats and play a key role in the company’s success.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting&Financial Management Manage all general accounting functions including: Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable General Ledger Bank Reconciliations Journal Entries Fixed Assets Payroll coordination
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting Oversee month-end and year-end close processes Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts Manage sales tax filings and other compliance reporting Coordinate with outside CPA for tax preparation and annual reviews
Operational&Management Support Develop and maintain budgets and financial forecasts Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to management Monitor inventory accounting and costing - strong cost accounting experience Assist with ERP/accounting system management and process improvements Maintain internal controls and accounting proceduresSupport management with reporting, KPIs, and operational analysis
Administrative&Other Duties Assist with HR/payroll administration as needed Manage vendor relationships related to accounting and banking Support insurance audits, lender reporting, and other financial requirements Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 5+ years of accounting or controller experience Experience in distribution, construction supply, industrial supply, or waterworks industry preferred Strong understanding of: financial statements cash flow managementinventory accounting job costing
Experience with ERP/accounting systems Advanced Excel skills Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Experience Experience with Infor FACTS or similar ERP systems Experience in small to mid-sized businesses CPA or CMA designation is a plus but not required
