User Experience Production Designer – Microsoft Core Store Experiences team - Stores Studio

Microsoft Store is one of the largest resellers of Microsoft products on a worldwide basis and is enjoying significant growth. Microsoft Store is developing into a center of e-commerce and marketing excellence for the company and is strategically establishing direct relationships with consumers.



Role overview:

Develops the final production assets and spec documentation for development of properties/programs we directly manage. Works with creative leads, Design PM's, UX designers, writers, and site ops (including program managers, producers, and developers) to keep informed of plans, changes, progress, and decisions. Displays a passion for learning and growing and love a fast-paced and collaborative environment.



The ideal candidate will be both creative and pragmatic, with an eye for accuracy and detail. You must have a proven record of designing and delivering innovative solutions across a range of platforms and mediums, for demanding and complex visual problems. You should have excellent technical problem-solving skills and be able to multi-task while working with minimal supervision. Candidates should possess a strong, dynamic personality who sees a set of design constraints as a challenge for creativity.



Responsibilities include:




  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions & reviews
  • Creating visual assets to support page designs and layouts for final handoff to production
  • Creates project spec documentation, redlines, behavior specs, cut assets, guideline documentation
  • Coordinates design QA ensuring engineering follows correct specifications
  • Provides bug testing of final builds to match spec documentation
  • Time and workload management to balance multiple requests per day / week
  • Clear and collaborative oral and written communication
  • Consistent responsiveness to requests from internal and external peers



Qualifications include:


  • Experience on a design/production team.
  • Fierce attention to detail.
  • Be comfortable with a very process heavy environment.
  • Ability to manage workload and bandwidth.
  • Ongoing curiosity, participation, and ability to ask questions when direction isn't clear
  • Extensive experience and portfolio that reflects work with product photography & renders that shows understanding of space, perspective, light, shadows.
  • Experience designing for responsive viewports (mobile, tablet, desktop).
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and Illustrator and passion for trying new design tools.
