The NISC IV program at Leidos is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and coordinating military and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) communication radio frequency assignments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide safe voice communication service channels between pilots and controllers. The engineer will work closely with regulatory bodies, engineering teams, and project managers to support spectrum-related initiatives across various projects.

All new hires must pass a drug test prior to starting with Leidos.

Primary Responsibilities:

Familiarity with frequency assignment principles, RF propagation, and interference mitigation.

Ability to support coordination of radio frequencies across diverse systems, including both voice and data communications.

Ability to assist in the receipt, tracking, and initial technical review of Link-16 and Counter-UAS (C-UAS) spectrum usage requests from interagency partners.

Experience contributing to analysis packages used for interagency coordination or internal review.

Capable of tracking requests in coordination systems and maintaining accurate logs of technical submissions and approvals.

Strong organizational skills for processing high volumes of incoming requests and supporting coordination messages between FAA, DoD, NTIA, and other entities.

Experience working within or adjacent to federal agencies, with the ability to follow established procedures for communication and document routing.

Effective written communication for summarizing technical issues and tracking key performance metrics.

Comfortable learning specialized government tools or databases for tracking RF coordination activities.

Familiarity with SharePoint-based tracking systems or willingness to quickly learn government equivalents.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Strong ability to interpret technical data and prepare documentation such as coordination summaries, engineering notes, and standard operating procedures.

Capable of identifying potential conflicts in frequency usage and proposing solutions based on engineering judgment.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Skilled at working with internal stakeholders and external agencies to coordinate spectrum usage and resolve technical issues.

Comfortable participating in technical discussions and communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a closely related field and a minimium of 8 years of prior experience. Additional years of expereince maybe considered in lieu of a degree.

At least 3 years of experience in spectrum engineering, aviation systems planning, or UAS integration.

Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with frequency assignment principles, RF propagation, and interference mitigation

Experience with military frequency (Link-16) analysis and coordination

Experience with UAS and C-UAS
