The Pontiac GTO is one of the most popular muscle cars in automotive history. In 1966, most models came equipped with the standard 389 CID engine. The infamous Tri-Power upgrade was and is the most sought-after power source.GMs advertising called the Pontiac GTO Ultimate Tiger. It has been named and is known as The Goat. Americans tend to shorten car names to a one-syllable word easier to pronounce and remember. Some say the name came from the reversal of the last 2 letters in GTO. The car is often referred to as The Legend of Muscle Cars.This 1966 GTO has the original Burgundy paint, code (N-N) and the paint is in excellent condition. All chrome and trim are in new condition and present above average.Interior is the Parchment bucket seat console interior (Code 224). This option is original to the car and interior has been restored.Engine is the original 389 CID with Tri-Power set up and is paired with 4-speed manual transmission and Hurst shifter. Engine is strong and runs very well. All gears shift with no issues. Both engine and transmission have been rebuilt.
