Research Fellow In Clinical Neuroscience Research Office
The Research Fellow in the Clinical Neuroscience Research Office plays a key role in supporting the full spectrum of clinical research activities that are overseen by the office. The Fellow will be responsible for coordinating new and existing sponsored and non-sponsored clinical studies, including both prospective and retrospective study designs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and institutional protocols throughout all phases of study conduct.The Fellow will participate in an on-call rotation to support studies requiring research procedures outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends. In this capacity, the Fellow must demonstrate reliability, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to act independently when necessary.Additionally, the Fellow will assist in the day-to-day management and mentorship of medical students engaged in investigator-initiated research projects with individual faculty members. This includes providing guidance on research methodology, data collection, and professional development within a clinical research environment.The Fellow will contribute to scholarly activity by assisting with the preparation and submission of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, including literature reviews, data analysis support, writing, editing, and formatting in accordance with journal-specific requirements. The Fellow will also support the planning, organization, and execution of departmental educational events and workshops, helping to ensure high-quality programming for trainees, faculty, and staff. A specific area of focus will be supporting NYMC medical students participating in the Summer Neuroscience Research Program, including onboarding, project coordination, and ongoing mentorship throughout the duration of the program.The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about advancing neuroscience research and medical education. Responsibilities
Clinical Study Coordination Coordination of day-to-day aspects of study related procedures for new and existing sponsored and non-sponsored clinical studies, including prospective and retrospective study designs Identification and screening of potential study participants Scheduling study participant visits and proceduresMaintain accurate and timely data entry, including research visit documentation Preparation for research visits Maintenance of regulatory binders and study files Creation and/or maintenance of source documentation Preparation for monitoring visits, site initiation/closeout visits and audits On-Call Research SupportParticipate in an on-call rotation to support studies requiring research procedures outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends Medical Student Mentorship&Management Assist in the day-to-day management of students working with faculty on investigator-initiated research projects Provide guidance on research methodology, data collection, and professional development Support NYMC medical students participating in the Summer Neuroscience Research Program, including onboarding, project coordination, and ongoing mentorshipScholarly Activity Assist in the preparation and submission of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, including literature reviews, writing, editing, and journal formatting Contribute to the overall research productivity of faculty members Educational Programming Support the planning, organization, and execution of departmental educational events, workshops, and seminarsQualifications
Education/Experience PhD, MD, or equivalent degree required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, in addition: Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced academic medical environment Prior experience in clinical research coordination or a related field preferred Familiarity with IRB submissions, research regulatory requirements, and clinical trial management systems is a plus Genuine interest in clinical neuroscience research and medical educationMaximum Salary
