Job Summary Incumbents in this position are responsible for onsite evaluation of job sites prior to work to obtain logistical and field verification information such that proper equipment, locates, materials, and staffing can be properly scheduled and deployed to the site to affect safe and efficient repair for staff and the public. This is assigned to pay grade G18. Essential Job Functions This position works directly for the Construction Supervisor communicating and coordinating work directly with the Operations Specialist, Construction Supervisor, and on-site crews. Assist Construction Supervisor with overseeing training of staff to ensure technical and safety training is sufficient and complete prior to going in the field and exposure to any risk. Assist with the identification and coordination of ongoing training needs. Serve as a back-up on sites for Construction Supervisor or Foreman with sufficient knowledge and experience water and sewer construction maintenance, parts and materials to be able to run crews to effect safe completion of repairs and maintenance at job sites Perform site visits of each work site daily to investigate and perform field verifications of areas to be repaired From the field, work within the CMMS– MAS system to enter all site needs while in the field to facilitate efficient and effective communication to Operations Specialist, Construction Supervisor, and Warehouse Technician Inspect completed work from in-house crews and outside contractors to ensure quality of work for our customers, aswell as respond to job site cleanup complaints, and document within the CMMS-MAS system with photos and communication logs. Evaluate GIS to preliminarily assess job site areas Outline the work area in the field to be called in for locates and work prioritization Select materials needed to make scheduled repairs, estimate pavement repair sizes, select appropriate equipment staging area, advise on plan for traffic control and communicate directly with Operations Specialist for optimum scheduling and deployment Reads maps, drawings, diagrams, blueprints, construction drawings, as built plans, and survey maps that identify easements and rights-of-way for making. Assist with planning and coordinating the daily corrective and emergency maintenance requests by shifting and reprioritizing existing schedules in coordination with division supervisors as needed based on on-going evaluations of thechanging circumstances in the field and the system needs. Respond to and provide good customer service to answer questions and address their concerns. Coordinate with contractors doing work on equipment or at location sites. Works safely, promotes a safety culture, and assists supervisors and foreman with ensuring safe work activities of crews on job sites. Monitors job site and staff to ensure compliance with safety rules and standards Monitor jobs for continued safety to public between completion by crews and completion by outside contractors i.e.: paving contractors, concrete contractors,and City paving crews. Performs proper data collections and documentation and analyzes historical failure rates to increase percentage of preventive maintenance over corrective maintenance. Ability to learn and execute higher level activities within the CMMS-MAS system to create reports to support planning and continuous improvement efforts of the Division. This position ensures compliance with all CFPUA policies and procedures. This position is required to work in partnership with their own department and all other CFPUA departments toward achieving organizational goals. Exercises purchasingauthority up to $1,000 without approval from supervisor. Performs other related job duties as assigned. In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties. Education, Experience, and Other Requirements Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED. This should be 3 years of water/sewer construction, maintenance/repair, planning/scheduling, or an equivalent combination of 3 years for all trades. Candidates must hold either a Distribution C certification or a Collections I certification upon hire. The remaining certification must be obtained within one year of the hire date. Possession of a valid North Carolina CDL Class A driver's license is preferred. This position may serve as a back-up in the on-call rotation on an as needed basis. Construction and Work Zone Safety courses/experience required. X Physical exertion throughout the work period. Performs work tasks involving pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting varying weights up to 50 pounds, and more than 50 pounds with assistance.
