The
Warehouse Manager
is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the warehouse personnel to meet shipping and production schedules both safely and efficiently, while best utilizing the department's resources.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Operations Manager.
These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
Supervise, evaluate, and provide regular feedback to warehouse/plant employees.
Perform all duties in accordance with Company operating procedures to meet the requirements of ISO ****:****.
Coordinate and supervise production in accordance with established policies, principles, and procedures.
Manage all warehouse operations to ensure efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
Plan and schedule preventative maintenance of equipment.
Assure warehouse personnel are trained to follow internal policies and procedures in accordance with Electric Boat/Newport News Level 1 Program requirements.
Interpret and enforce company policies as well as basic safety and OSHA regulations (including OSHA SHARP requirements).
Maintain and enforce all safety and production policies and procedures.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product, suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department.
Recommend personnel actions such as evaluations, promotions, transfers, and discharges.
Coordinate monthly safety and production meetings.
Actively motivate employee development and training.
Lead, coach, and train warehouse personnel in continuous improvement initiatives to meet and exceed Company metrics.
Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure delivery schedules are met.
Monitor and maintain the inventory to minimize variances.
Manage and control expenditures of departmental consumables including all packaging consumables, i.e., PVC, cardboard, wood.
Improve material utilization and reduce scrap rates.
Adhere to all Company safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
Adhere to all Company handbook policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Five or more years of warehouse management experience
Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
Ability to effectively multi-task and work independently on assigned tasks
Excellent attention to detail and ability to transfer data accurately
Ability to motivate, train, and develop employees
Strong work ethic; self-motivated
Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers, and ensuring same standards from subordinates
Preferred Qualifications
Three or more years of experience in the metals industry
