Controller, Ohio

Overview:
 

 

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Controller at our Leetonia, OH location. We are looking for an experienced Controller to direct financial activities of the organization. 

Responsibilities:
Establishes, or recommends to management, economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company. 

Recommends modifications to existing corporate programs. 

Reviews activities and establishes procedures for the proper care and custody of corporate assets.

Prepares reports that summarize company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations. 

Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. 

Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities. 

Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets. 

Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions. 

Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies. 

Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports. 

Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures. 

Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records. 

Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies. 

Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems. 

Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting. 

Reviews financial statements with management personnel. 

Directs areas of credit, invoicing, collections, accounts payable and cash disbursements. 

Manage subordinate supervisor(s) and maintain responsibilities for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting department. 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. 

Conduct interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

Position allows for telecommuting within reasonable commuting distance of reporting office in Leetonia, Ohio. 

The position requires domestic travel up to 25% of the time to visit company offices and manufacturing sites.

Qualifications:
Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or foreign equivalent)

CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA (Chartered Professional Accountant) certification

Experience

10 years of relevant experience

10 years of financial reporting and analysis experience in public and/or industry practice

5 years of experience with completing compliance returns

5 years of experience with organization systems, testing and department workflow, such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Intercompany Accounting
